Wabi aesthetics are from the Japanese concept Wabi-Sabi.
Wabi-Sabi refers to the beauty of rustic simplicity; it involves an earthy elegance. It can
be seen in the stateliness of an old, sun-washed barn poised in a distant meadow,
in the pattern of free-fallen petals from a summer rose.
With wabi-sabi, we behold the reverence of things that are
real, yet imperfect . . . authentic, yet transient.
To discover wabi-sabi, we slow down and discern the
serene beauty in the simple things all around us.
